Their commercial relationships help make the switching process as simple as possible for customers and in some cases allow them to negotiate exclusive deals that are not available directly from the supplier.
USwitch tries to include as many suppliers and products on the market in their comparisons as possible. However there are circumstances where a supplier or a product cannot be included in their search – for example, they may not be able to show a supplier’s products because they do not have an agreement with them or because they do not wish to be included in a comparison.
The data they use to calculate your results for their energy switching services is provided directly by suppliers. They monitor all suppliers continually and update their site regularly to ensure their results are comprehensive and accurate.

Which is the best energy price comparison site?
The simple answer is that there is no single best energy price comparison site. USwitch is by far the most popular and has an aggregate review score of 4.8 out of 5 and promises savings of up to £477*.
However, the rising star Love Energy Savings is souring in popularity and has a great TrustPilot rating to back them up too. They claim to save customer up to £955* on their energy bills.
Only Simply Switch & Energylinx have high TrustPilot review scores. And only the Energy Helpline claims it can save you more (up to £537), although the claim is made with older data.
If you want to get the absolute best deal, your best bet is to try out a few comparison sites since they’re all free to use. Just make sure you look at price per kWh and standing charges when comparing tariffs, since claimed savings may differ from site to site.
How do energy comparison sites make money?
They usually work on a commission basis with the energy companies they have a deal with. They are obliged to offer the whole of the market to their customers. So, this means that you should see every available tariff – not just those ones that the comparison site makes money from.
You are free to choose whichever energy tariff suits your needs.
Do energy switching sites show all tariffs & deals?
In theory, all of the sites above should show all tariffs. The data they use to make their calculations generally comes from energy suppliers themselves, so will only be as good as the data provided.
Comparison sites can only help you actually make the switch if they have a commercial agreement with the supplier (see above).
This may mean that some comparison sites highlight certain suppliers since they can offer a full switching service but there should be a way to filter to show all results.
Is Power Compare Accredited By Ofgem?
No, we are an energy information website and not a full comparison site, supplier or broker. Therefore, we work with USwitch and Energy Helpline to provide comparisons for homes and Love Energy Savings for comparisons related to both home and businesses.
Some comparison sites are backed by Ofgem. This does not necessarily mean they are the best comparison sites. For a more accurate picture, customer reviews provide a great overview.
What is an ‘Ofgem Confidence Code’ energy price comparison site?
The Confidence Code is a code of practice to govern independent energy price comparison sites. We accredit sites to the Code.
The Code insists that the sites we accredit follow key principles for how they must operate their service. Using a site with the Confidence Code logo means that the process of switching energy supplier should be easier, more reliable and reassuring for you.
We regularly review the code to make sure it provides the right protections for consumers. You can find further information on the rules Ofgem-accredited sites must stick to in the Confidence Code code of practice.
What can I do if I have a complaint about an energy price comparison website?
If you have a complaint about any energy comparison site, Ofgem recommends you first try and resolve it with them directly.
If it is not resolved after that you can then contact Ofgem directly so that they can raise the issue with the comparison site. You can do so by:
