Gazprom Energy Background
Gazprom Energy has been working with large and small businesses since 2006, and provides energy for McDonalds, Siemens and other major corporations. Their small business customers can access fixed term and flexible contracts to keep costs down, and larger sites can buy directly from the energy market with guidance from an account manager.
In 2015, they won Supplier of the Year at The Energy Awards. Though they have a presence in Russia, France and the Netherlands, their UK and Irish clients are taken care of from their base in Manchester. Their parent company, Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd, is “responsible for 14% of global gas production”.
Gazprom Energy Smart Meter
Smart meters are not mentioned on the Gazprom website.

Customers can use half hourly metering and Automatic meter reading (AMR), which can mean slightly cheaper rates for customers. Electricity readings are sent to Gazprom every half an hour, so there’s no need to manually report it.

Payment by Direct Debit is preferred, as debit and credit card payments carry an extra 3% charge.

Switching To Gazprom Energy
Once you’ve agreed a new contract with Gazprom and registered, switching your gas and/or electricity over takes around 15 calendar days. You’ll also need to have terminated your agreement with your current supplier and given them enough notice. If you’re in debt to your old supplier, this could delay things slightly.
When the transfer has been completed, you’ll receive a welcome pack confirming all the details.
