SSE Atlantic Electricity, Gas & Dual Fuel Tariffs
SSE Atlantic offers only one tariff but the prices vary depending on payment method (monthly direct debits/quarterly on receipt of a bill) and billing method (paperless/paper), and meter type (Economy 7/10/prepayment/credit).

SSE Atlantic Business Energy
SSE Atlantic does not supply energy to business customers but its parent company, SSE, does.
SSE Atlantic Background Information
SSE Atlantic is a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) and operates its own tariffs in isolation of SSE but it uses SSE’s delivery structure to provide the energy and back office. Atlantic joined the SSE group in 2004.
SSE is a British company that as a group has been powering homes for 70 years in the UK. They have UK based call centres in Havant, Perth, Cumbernauld, and Cardiff, and they employ over 19,000 people in the UK.
SSE group is also one of the UK’s largest renewable energy generators with hydro being its largest source closely followed by onshore wind. They also generate energy through offshore wind, pumped storage, and dedicated biomass.
SSE Atlantic also offers phone and broadband to domestic customers.
SSE Atlantic Smart Meter
SSE Atlantic is rolling out smart meters over the next few years to its customers. There does not appear to be an elective method of getting a smart meter sooner and you may have to wait until they contact you.
Other SSE Atlantic Meters
SSE Atlantic supports Economy 7/10 meters and prepayment meters.
They also support the Feed-in-Tariff as mandatory so they accept Feed-in-Tariff customers without them having to be an energy customer.
SSE Atlantic Bills
SSE Atlantic offers a range of options for billing which include monthly direct debit, quarterly payment on the receipt of a bill, paper or paperless, and prepayment. If you pay on receipt of a bill you can pay by variable direct debit, by text, by credit or debit, or cheque through the post.

SSE Atlantic Warm Home Discount
SSE Atlantic was part of the 2017/18 Warm Home Discount scheme, which gives vulnerable people £140 towards their energy bills. To apply for 2018/19, You need to fill-in an online form to register your interest.

Switching To SSE Atlantic
If you want to switch to SSE Atlantic they recommend you do it online so that you can get a personalised quote which you can accept and proceed to switch. Alternatively, you can contact them on 0345 026 7036 to switch over the phone.
After completing the switch details there is a 14-day cooling off period where you can cancel without charge. Following this, they will contact your current supplier to arrange the switch and will stay in touch with you about it. A few days before the switch you will be asked to provide meter readings.
Moving Home With SSE Atlantic
If you are moving home with SSE Atlantic you need to call their Homemoves team on 0345 071 9634 to make arrangements. They will finalise your current supply and switch your new home to SSE Atlantic if you want to switch to them.

SSE Atlantic In the News
There are no recent news stories about SSE Atlantic.
However, SSE has been in the news recently regarding a merger with Npower which might impact SSE Atlantic customers if it was to go ahead.
November 2017, Financial Times, Ofgem have been consulted about a merger between SSE and Npower which would result in the Big Six becoming the Big Five. The proposed merger would aid Npower in exiting the UK energy supplier market where it has been sustaining losses for many years.

If possible they will resolve the issue straight away but if they can’t they will try to give a solution by 8pm the following working day. If this is not resolved at this point you can escalate it to the Head of Customer Service, who will do an independent review and aim to resolve it within five working days.
If the issue is not resolved satisfactorily then you will be sent a deadlock letter which will contain the details of the Energy Ombudsman.
