Igloo Energy Background Information
Igloo Energy is a Southampton based energy company who was launched in April 2017 to supply gas and electricity to domestic customers. They aim to provide smarter energy to their customers through the use of smart technology including smart meters and mobile app but these are still in development.
They are doing this in order to arm their customers with the tools they need to manage their more energy efficiency and save money.
Igloo Energy provides one tariff for all customers and they don’t switch customers onto an expense tariff at the end of the contract period. They provide one simple variable rate tariff with no exit fee that they claim is competitively priced.
Uniquely Igloo Energy pays interest on all credit balances on customer accounts, the rate is currently 3%.
Igloo Energy Smart Meter
Igloo Energy is currently not installing smart meters but will be starting to install them soon once they have the systems in place to support them. If you have smart meter already you can still switch to them but they won’t be able to receive the automatic meter readings until their systems are able to accept them. You can also register your interest with them and be informed when they are able to accept smart meter readings.
Other Igloo Energy Meters
Igloo Energy currently does not supply energy to customers on prepayment meters. Their tariff also does not include multiple rates for Economy 7 users.
Igloo Energy Bills
Igloo Energy sends out their bills monthly and payments are only by direct debit. They conduct direct debit reviews every six months and will let you know if it needs adjusting. They ask customers to provide monthly meter readings to ensure the bills are accurate.
Igloo Energy App
Igloo Energy currently does not have an app but mention that they will have one when they start installing smart meters as it is central to their future proposition.

If you want to switch to Igloo Energy then complete an online quote and proceed to switch. You will need to give them details about your home and energy usage for the quote and personal details to switch. Igloo Energy will do the switch for you in around three weeks.
