Future Energy reviews on Trustpilot are largely negative with 84% negative ratings, however, this is based on only 18 reviews. Feedback includes customer service which was largely negative but a few positive comments too, competitive prices, billing issues, problems switching, online account issues, and unclear bills.

Future Energy has two simple tariffs:
Future Summer Fixed
- Fixed rate for 12 months

- £30 exit fee
- Electricity unit rate 13 pence per kWh and standing charge 26 pence per day
- Gas unit rate 3 pence per kWh and standing charge 26 pence per day
Future Variable Tracker
- Variable rate with no contract
- Direct debit only
- No exit fee
- Electricity unit rate 12.8 pence per kWh and standing charge 25 pence per day
- Gas unit rate 2.6 pence per kWh and standing charge 25 pence per day

Future Energy Business Energy
Future Energy currently does not supply energy to businesses.
Future Energy Background Information
Future Energy is a Newcastle based energy provider who supplies gas and electricity to the North East of England. They were set up because they felt that customers in the North East were being charged more for energy.
Future Energy run a community support programme called Switch & Support to help communities in the North East, and they partner with clubs, charities and community groups. Customers can select one of these community partners for Future Energy to make a donation to on your behalf for each year you are a customer with them.
Future Energy Smart Meter
Future Energy is currently installing smart meters on a regional basis. Customers can request a smart meter and it will be installed as soon as their installation teams are in their area. Customers with existing smart meters can switch to them but depending on the version of the smart meter they have to whether they will be able to receive the meter readings from it.
Other Future Energy Meters
Future Energy currently does not appear to support prepayment or Economy 7 meter customers. Economy 7 users can still join them but they will be charged the same rates during the day and evening.
Future Energy Bills
Future Energy currently only offers tariffs with payment by monthly direct debit. They send out bills quarterly or you can manage your account online.
Future Energy App
Future Energy currently does not have an app.
Switching To Future Energy
If you want to switch to Future Energy you can complete an online quote and proceed to switch or you can call them. Once they have all your details they will complete the switch for you which takes on average 21 days. Just before the switch is complete you will be asked to provide meter readings.
Moving Home With Future Energy
If you move home whilst with Future Energy you will need to contact them with your final meter readings on the date you move out and give them your new address.

They will aim to resolve your complaint straight away if possible but if they can’t they will acknowledge the complaint within 48 hours. They aim to take no more than eight weeks to resolve the complaint, after this time if the complaint is not resolved they will send you a final response which will give the details of the Energy Ombudsman.
