Crown Energy Background
Operating from Bury in Lancashire for over 70 years, Crown Energy, Crown Oil and Crown Gas & Power provide a variety of commercial, and some domestic, energy services.
Crown Energy provide an ‘end to end’ service, evaluating sites as well as servicing, moving and maintaining meters and gas/electricity connections. They’ve previously provided energy connections for large sites such as schools and colleges, religious buildings, business parks and hotels, as well as many smaller sites.
Utility and energy infrastructure is something many businesses would rather not have to interfere with, because it’s time-consuming and disruptive, but sometimes it’s important for operations and needs to be place in good hands. Crown Energy promise to be those good hands.
Crown Energy Smart Meter
Crown provide quite a lot of info about smart meters and how they work. To get one installed, customers can call Crown directly.
Smart meters are designed for the most accurate monthly billing, rather than reading their meter manually. The meter also records usage in real-time, so the user knows how much energy they’re using at a glance.
Other Crown Energy Meters
Your meter installation, connection and maintenance can all be dealt with by Crown. You can even have your meter moved if it’s difficult to read or in an awkward place.
To have a meter installed from scratch can be more complex, but Crown take care of the whole installation as quickly as they can with a little disruption as possible.
They’ve provided a list of the types of installations they provide on their meter kiosks and housing page.
Crown Energy Bills
Crown Energy don’t provide gas and electricity, they provide the meter and supply, which can carry different costs depending on the size of the job. To find out more, contact them directly for a quote.
Crown Energy App
There’s no app available. Customer service is mainly provided over the phone.
Switching To Crown Energy
If you need a meter installation or to change your existing energy infrastructure in some way, it doesn’t matter who your current supplier is. Crown will “contact all the additional parties to organise the job” on your behalf, including the local council if there’s going to be any disturbance to roads around your business.
Moving Locations With Crown Energy
You can have an existing supply completely removed, if you move to a new premises and want to change the utilities supply. The gas and electricity will be disconnected, and engineers will connect your new pipework again as soon as possible. This will also involve an ‘on-site investigation’ and all the necessary safety checks.
Crown Energy Fuel Mix
No fuel mix available for Crown Energy’s sister company Crown Gas and Power. They state that they “continue to reduce our environmental impact by reducing our carbon footprint and offsetting our operations” but there are few specifics.
Crown Energy In the News
No recent press available.
Crown Energy Complaints
There are very few reviews to read as Crown doesn’t have a Trustpilot page or any presence on Which?
The two Google reviewers balance each other out, with one claiming he’s been waiting for gas connection for 5 months, and another considering them to be “very quick and efficient”.
Crown Energy haven’t disclosed any complaints stats or reports on their website.

Crown Energy Summary
Crown offer a specific but very necessary service for some businesses. If their promise to cut timescales is to be believed, they could make something usually quite disruptive as efficient as possible.
As they provide the means of supply, rather than the supply itself, it’s difficult to compare Crown Energy with other suppliers.
Pros:
- Lots of experience dealing with supply/meter connection and disconnection.
- Promise to “slash timescales on all your utility projects”.
- Deal with the various departments and ‘middle men’ on your behalf.
Cons:
- Information about pricing and servicing is difficult to find or you have to enquire directly to get it.
- Hardly any reviews, so difficult to make your mind up objectively.
- Unclear how competitively priced they are.
