Contract Natural Gas Background
Established in 1994, Contract Natural Gas is the largest independent shipper of gas in the UK. They’ve got a few awards on their mantelpiece, including an outstanding ranking with Investor in Customers, and ranking in the Yorkshire Post’s Fastest 50 high-achieving companies in 2014.
As well as providing the energy itself, they also set up connections, move and install meters, and shipping services.
Contract Natural Gas Smart Meter
There’s no information about smart meters on the CNG site.
Smart meters are designed for the most accurate monthly billing, rather than reading the meter manually. The meter also records usage in real-time, so the user knows how much energy they’re using at a glance. The government has imposed a deadline of 2020 for all energy providers to offer them to domestic and small business customers.
Contract Natural Gas Meters
To submit a reading, customer can fill out a form on the CNG website. There’s no specific information available about how to read your meter.
Automated Meter Reading (AMR) means customers can have readings reported automatically and never have to manually read their meter. They can check their readings online, 24 hours a day, through an online portal, and their bill will be as accurate as possible.
Business energy customers who don’t use a smart meter or Automated Meter Reading (AMR) should get in the habit of submitting a reading every month, because it keeps the bill accurate.
Contract Natural Gas Bills
There’s advice available on reading different bill types, and an easily accessible online portal on the CNG website where you can pay by debit card.
Customers can also set up a regular Direct Debit to take payments monthly or quarterly.
Businesses with more than one site can set up ‘Group Billing’, where they’ll be billed for all sites at once if it’s easier to manage.
Contract Natural Gas App
There’s no app available to customers, but AMR customers and partners can log into their own online portals.
